Physical feat – All I’ve been doing physically over the winter is to do pushups every day. However, I’m lazy so some (most, if I’m being brutally honest) days I’ll do them and then other days, Netflix and the allure of hanging out with your friends and doing nothing, wins out. Its like a little game I play with myself. I tell myself ill do more tomorrow, then tomorrow turns into the next day, then I have to study, then its EXAMS… So no crazy physical feat. But about 2 months ago I deadlifted my personal best of 140 kg (300 lbs). So my goal is to beat that and by my birthday, deadlift 150 kg. Podcast – For the past year or so, my favorite podcast is called RISK. Its where comedians and other entertainers tell true life stories. They arent always super funny, or “school-apprioate” but they are interesting and can sometimes give a clear strong message. This editorial by the New York Times editorial board showcasing President Donald Trump’s unprofessionalism in office. The editorial criticizes President Trumps choice in diction and “name-calling” to other preventatives in office. NY times uses negative connotations and biases towards Trump and his actions while in office of the USA. This raises interesting questions such as “What if this editoral was written by a news outlet that was Pro-Trump?” or even “What if this paper was written by a paper situated outside the USA?”. Blog Post Power and privilege 1.      Which social groups are marginalized, excluded or silenced within the text? In the article, “For women under 30, Most births occur outside of Marriage”, women are being marginalized for having children outside of marriage. The author uses bias with diction and tone, bias through selection and omission, and bias by source control give a negative connotations to women that have children outside of wedlock. The author marginalizes women into the traditional societal views of women should not have “illegitimate” children. The author constantly uses negative connotations to change the opinion of the reader and try to administer a more conservative perspective on women and children, and traditional martial roles.
