HW Short Analytical paragraph
How to Pay for a Baby –
Analytical Paragraph
The article “How
to Pay for a Baby” by online author Kool A.D. is an informative, entertaining
and strange enough, a political text. The author Kool A.D. uses slang, explicit
language, metaphors, and other literary devices to convey a humorous advice column
on how to pay for a baby, that overlays his main objective of, criticizing
America’s capitalist ideology.
The article is
conveyed as a lousy and unreliable piece of text, but when dissected you see,
Kool A.D., uses this mask, to cover and show us, the readers, criticism of
America’s capitalist ideology. He uses slang and explicit language mostly, to
convey this message. He doesn’t use it to directly confront capitalistic
ideology but to skirt around it. The whole article is a metaphor, and the
author uses this language to try to connect to younger audiences. He makes
references to pop-culture such as, Netflix and Jordans, and also uses a
different dialect and regional dialect
reflects demographics from American adolescent teenagers and young adults, because
that is his target audience. The very last sentence, “The kids are the future,
we can do it.”, Kool A.D. directs this to us, the readers and our future
children, saying we can stop these capitalist ideology if we work together.
